FAQ

Common questions about swivl.app

How booking, checkout, payroll and accounting work for salons, barbershops, spas and every other beauty business.

1How do salons and barbershops use swivl.app?

Salons and barbershops use swivl.app to replace the pile of apps they usually juggle: a branded online booking page, a multi-provider calendar, checkout with card readers, client notes and photos, inventory, staff payroll and real accounting. Hair salons lean on color formulas and backbar costing; barbershops use the waitlist, recurring cuts and booth-rent tracking. Everything posts to the same ledger so the books stay accurate without manual entry.

2How does online booking work for my clients?

You share a single shop link or a personal link for each provider. Clients pick a service, see real availability, upload inspiration photos if needed, leave a deposit and manage their appointment through a secure link. They do not need to download an app or create an account. Requests can be set to pending approval so nothing lands on the calendar until you confirm it.

3What happens after I request a walkthrough?

Reach out through the contact page or email support@southerntechpartners.net. A team member reviews the details you share about your shop, services, team size and pay structure. Within one business day we reply by email or phone to schedule a time that works for you — either a 30-minute screen-shared call or an in-person visit. During the walkthrough we set up your services and pay model live in swivl.app so you can see real numbers instead of a generic demo.

4Can clients book, reschedule or cancel appointments themselves?

Yes. Every booking confirmation includes a secure manage link. Clients can confirm, reschedule or cancel within the rules you set, such as notice windows or cancellation fees. Changes update the calendar instantly and the provider gets notified.

5How do booking deposits and no-show protection work?

You can require a deposit at booking, save a card on file, or both. Deposits are applied to the ticket at checkout. If a client no-shows or cancels outside your policy, you can charge the saved card according to your stated terms. swivl.app records the transaction and posts it to the ledger so revenue is reconciled automatically.

6What is the waitlist and how does it fill cancellations?

When you are fully booked, clients can join a waitlist for a specific provider or service. If someone cancels, reschedules or frees a block of time, you can offer the open slot to the waitlist in order. The client receives a notification and can claim the spot directly from the secure link.

7Can the calendar handle commission and booth rent in the same shop?

Yes. swivl.app was built for mixed floors. Each provider can be set to commission, booth rent, hourly or salary. Commission rates can vary per service, booth rent can be charged weekly or monthly, and the payday view combines all of them into one clear settlement run.

8Do I need a separate accounting program?

No. swivl.app includes a double-entry general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, bank reconciliation, sales tax accrual, expenses and month-end close. Every sale, tip, refund, product cost and payroll entry posts automatically, so most beauty businesses can run their books inside swivl.app. If you already have an accountant, they can export the data they need.

9How do payments and card readers work?

You can check out clients with a paired card reader for tap, chip or swipe, or key in a card manually for phone orders and deposits. Tips and tip splits are handled at checkout, digital receipts are emailed, and processor fees are recorded in the books. Retail products draw down inventory automatically when sold on the same ticket.

10Is swivl.app mobile-friendly for providers and clients?

Yes. The booking page works on any phone for clients, and the provider view is designed for phones, tablets and desktops. Staff can check schedules, manage appointments and run checkout from a mobile browser without installing anything.

11Can I use my own branded booking link or domain?

Each shop gets a custom handle like swivl.app/yourshop. Providers can also have their own personal handle under the shop. These links can be used on Instagram, business cards, email signatures and your existing website. Custom domain support is available for established shops that want the booking flow to live under their own URL.

12What kind of support is available after I sign up?

You can reach the support team at support@southerntechpartners.net or by calling 912-209-4804. New accounts include guided onboarding and help setting up services, staff, pay models and accounting. Ongoing support is available by email and phone during business hours.
